FREE Professional Development opportunities available to upper elementary and middle school science teachers


Middle School Professional Development Opportunity
Explore ways to transition your science curriculum into NGSS, with special attention to the science and engineering design practices. This is a 3-day, hands-on workshop designed for 6th-8th grade science teachers. Participants will benefit from special tours of the California Science Center, focused break-out sessions, classroom materials, and more! Registration is now OPEN – spots are limited, and available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis!

Middle School Workshop Dates: All teacher participants must attend all dates.
Wednesday July 30: 8:30am-3:30 pm
Thursday July 31: 8:30am-3:30 pm
Friday August 1: 8:30am-3:30 pm

Ascent to Orbit STEM Program
Explore the past, present, and future of space exploration in this hands-on, technology-rich curriculum designed for 4th-8th grade. Teachers apply in groups of two, three, or four from the same school site. Participating school teams are eligible for classroom materials, the option to check out a technology toolkit, access to curriculum, and a bus transportation stipend for a field trip to the California Science Center. Registration is now OPEN – spots are limited, and available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis!

Thursday July 17 – 8:30am-3pm

Friday July 18 – 8:30am-12:30 pm
Saturday December 13 – 8:30am-12:30 pm
